Random Thoughts for a Wednesday Afternoon - Thursday Edition

A day late... but not a dollar short.

  • Really NBC… is this really who you want hosting your morning “News” show… someone who moonlights as a game show host?? Why not just bring J. Fred Muggs back??
  • Sarah asks if 11:40 in the morning is too early to drink. My response was; ‘not if you have twins.’
  • How random can thoughts be if one has to think about them first?
Does anyone else besides me want to smack the hell out of the duo from those annoying VW commercials?
  • Are the two of them more or less annoying than the 80’s Energizer guy? That’s a tough call.
  • I love my kids.
  • I usually find her writing’s pushy and obnoxious, but the Chicago Tribune’s TV blogger nails it in her scathing comments about NBC today.
  • Sad… very, very sad… Note to The PB & The J… don’t even think about dressing like that when you are 10…
  • Random “The Simpsons” quote: “I wish we lived in a place more like the America of yesteryear that only exists in the brains of us Republicans.” – Ned Flanders
  • I hate to admit it, but I thought Gene Pitney was already dead. RIP GP.
  • The 2006 NFL schedule has been released… GO RAMS!!
  • Here are some of the recent search phrases that have brought people to my little corner of the blogosphere: “lyrics "I once shot a man in Reno just to watch him die"”, “leprechaun the fugitive”, “nickname for wednesday=hump day”, “Cash Bash”, “Irish saint twins”, “simpsons quotes politics”, “sahd”, “monoamniotic pregnancy and yolk sac”, “fatherhood spanish”, “who provide the voice for Stewie Griffin twin” (actor/playwrite Wallace Shawn btw)
  • Today’s gratuitous (and superfluous) attempt for the ‘craziest phrase used in a blatant attempt to trick people into visiting my site when they type it into Google’ is: ‘kwyjibo’
  • Today’s gratuitous and spontaneous blog plug is: Mr. Big Dubya
  • Today’s Mental iPod song of the day is ‘They Don’t Know’ by Tracey Ullman.

You've been around for such a long time now
Oh, maybe I could leave you but I don't know how
And why should I be lonely every night
When I could be with you, oh yes you make it right
And I don't listen to the guys who say
That you're bad for me and I should turn you away

Cause they don't know 'bout us
They've never heard of love

I get a feeling when I look at you
Wherever you go now I wanna be there too
They say we're crazy but I just don't care
And if they keep on talkin', still they get nowhere
So I don't mind if they don't understand
When I look at you and you hold my hand

Cause they don't know 'bout us
They've never heard of love

(do do-do-do)
Why should it matter to us if they don't approve
(do do-do-do)
We should just take our chances while we've got nothin' to lose

Baby

There's no need for living in the past
Now I've found a love, I'm gonna make it last
I tell the others don't bother me
Cause when they look at you they don't see what I see
No I don't listen to their wasted lines
Got my eyes wide open and I see the signs

Cause they don't know 'bout us
They've never heard of love

No I don't listen to their wasted lines
Got my eyes wide open and I see the signs

Cause they don't know 'bout us
They've never heard of love

I can't believe I'm blog friends with a Rams fan.

It hurts.

I always thought that Bertram would have been Stewies younger brother. Wallace Shawn is great.

Could be worse Sarah... you could be blog-friends with a Cowboys fan

He is. 1/2 brother technically after Peter donated some of his 'stuff'.

My Dinner with Andre is a great film with Shawn.

We moved to DC just over a week before the Bucs/Redskins playoff game this year.

When I old my new neighbors we were from Tampa, and yes, Bucs fans, they would grimace and say "At least you aren't Dallas fans".

I think that one of the best aspects of being a total TV nazi and never having anything on but children's programming, or documenataries/educational stuff is that I am clueless about things like the VW commercial.
I don't have to be annoyed.
They don't even exist in this world.
That Tracey Ullman song is even better with the video. All girls have had THAT boyfriend. He was perfect, at the time.

Why not Regis for the evening news?

Bonus question... Midge you've seen the video (not many people have) so you may know this.

Who is the man sitting next to her, that she's singing to, in the car??

Becky - Regis on the Today show, or any 'news'-type show, would signal the end of life as we know it.

Because he's unqualified? Or because he's annoying?

The VW commercial is not that annoying.

The commerical that really annoys me is the two guys singing the gilligans island remake for Applebee's. I want a waitress to hand them a bare electrical wire to hold while they are standing in the puddle in the restaurant.

Becky- Both are good reasons...

Go BEARS !!

1) He's just as qualified as the rest of the people in the entertainment business they've got reading the news now.

2) I find them all equally annoying.

I know my name isn't gidge, but Paul McCartney is in the video

I'd prefer an early-80s Bobcat Goldthwait (circa Police Academy movies) to read the news. Or how about Emo Philips? If the news didn't want to make you kill yourself now, imagine if he was reading it?

Wow - Rams and Bucs fans - how do you all ever get over your constant disappointment? And, what do you all do mid-way through the season when you realize it's all over? Just asking.

That's right Dub. Now I know why you're gonna try out for Jeopardy.

Golthwait would be good, I'd tune in for that. Emo should not be allowed to breed; has he/she/it?

And that hurts Dub... I've supressed that disaster SB loss from a few years ago from that "team" in New England.. the Jets I think they were called... or was it the Stampede...

Wait that's CFL isn't it?
